Manifesto
03:15
|
|||
I took out my pen and pad and set to write my manifesto
It was a one line poem said dont let nothin ever get you low
There's a hole open to heaven and I look straight through
we were love drunk givin like we was livin on the bayou
Who made these fucking rules and said that I was born to live by
give em hell til I die dont bury me in no suit and tie
cause I dont wanna work for another mans money
yes sir no sir give it to me honey
Had a revelation I was told a lie
Live to consume work to buy and then die
Oh but truth enters the mind one little word at a time
and you cant shake the smell of the cat on the line
Who made these fucking rules and said that I was born to live by
give em hell til I die dont bury me in no suit and tie
cause I dont wanna work for another mans money
yes sir no sir give it to me honey
Tell me Im alive show me I am human
I wanna log off shut down and leave the room

Dreamers
02:50
|
|||
Nimble dreamers dream away the misspent hours of yesterday
cause if we had what we desire we'd spend our nights around the fire
exposing lies and sharing truths on those that tried to waste our youth
and every second of every day would be our own to spend our way
they call us Dreamers
they call us Dreamers
late at night we write our names to remind ourselves of why we came
we let it bleed down bathroom stalls spray-paint the monuments and marble halls
tell me a story man tell me a lie I wanna believe in a future without
having to try
this place was supposed to be ours it took a long long time now in
less than a century
all we see is mine
they call us Dreamers
they call us Dreamers
You got a thought and you think your thought might catch
well I wish you good luck
you cant put a finger on what's holding you back
your heart is pure its your head thats fucked
they call us Dreamers
they call us Dreamers

Love and Hunger
04:15
|
|||
Eighteen, unclean we were good at nothing we both come from broken homes
lost souls, not gone cold drifting toward love to take hold
and never ever let it go
I know what you know but its so hard to let go
the fear is turning into stone
Its clear that were done but carry this emptiness with you
your past will drag your future home
Love and hunger!
Love and hunger!
Ten years later buried my heart in anger at all the time hunger would steal
we walked hear on bridges patched up our cuts with stitches
lets burn em down so our wounds can heal
Love and hunger!
Love and hunger!
Let it go let it go let it go
Let it go let it go let it go
Let it go let it go let it go
Let it go let it go let it go
Love and hunger!

You and Me
04:34
|
|||
Its you and me hand in hand in a foreign land
and that dont change when were alone here at home
Its you and me taking hits like a heavy weight
we go around in circles but together we try and make em straight
Its you and me against the world
you and me with the world
Its you and me drunk and free at the Mardi Gras
breaking silence, breaking hearts and breaking laws
Its you and me against the world
you and me with the world
Its you and me against the world
you and me with the world
I just wanna take it slow its a wonder how you know
that whenever my thoughts do stray they always find their way
to the lighthouse by the sea to the shelter of our tree
where the river flows free in the dream of you and me
Its you and me at the bottom of a green hill
just trying to find a little time to be still
Its you and me against the world
you and me with the world
Its you and me against the world
you and me with the world

When I Get Mine
03:41
|
|||
Desires tossed and lovers lost empty cans and cold machines
I can only hope to wake up before I die inside this dream
when I get a little money Ill walk the talk and tow the line
When I get Mine
I used to love a different woman she used to say she loved me too
then she ran off with some other guy yea she left me sad and blue
when I get a little money Ill let her know that Im just fine
When I get Mine
The roads to home are long and muddy we never did have nice things
tomorrow Ill look back on yesterday and drown the winter in my spring
When I get a little money Ill buy back all of my lost time
When I get Mine

From My Window
04:56
|
|||
I look out my window I see my town
I see my people I see how they live
and I see the danger the will to survive
inside vacant houses the forgotten lives
talk aint worth alot
your life was lost before you ever copped
politicians die the night dissolves to dawn
and I could only love you til your love was all gone.
I see the beggars I see the thief
I see the king that rules the streets
and i see the guardian I see his code
a noble lone shadow who'll challenge the throne
talk aint worth alot
your life was lost before you ever copped
politicians die the night dissolves to dawn
and we could only love you til your love was all gone.
I see my city I feel its love
but I see its pain from my window above

Thirty thousand years ago give or take a few
the sun came round and left again women did too
sure as ages came to pass desire spawned a child
now I can dial a telephone but my heart is still wild
I want her, I want her, I want her, I want her she's mine
Blessed are the ties that bind
Blood is in the air tonight a drunken lust for fame
how many of my accidents turn out to be my fate
we wander through the monuments that claim that we are tame
while beasts walk other animals on leashes made of chains
I want her, I want her, I want her, I want her she's mine
Blessed are the ties that bind
A crowd will fill the marble square waitin to be told
no one dares to question all the values that they hold
they're wearin dark shades at night to hide the lions eyes
they cover up the truth with smiles intentions are disguised
I want her, I want her, I want her, I want her she's mine
Blessed are the ties that bind

Nameless
02:06
|
|||
You are not regrettable it was always me
I am the decider I take responsibility
You are not regrettable the words I said were lies
I was but a child then a boy cannot be wise
You are not regrettable all I saw was red
I wished that I was dying I wanted to be dead
You are not regrettable I was far from home
I've always looked for trouble I dont know how to be alone
You are not regrettable I dont recall your name
I wouldnt know you if I saw you do you feel the same
You are not regrettable all I saw was red
I wished that I was dying I wanted to be dead
You are not regrettable you lifted up my vail
I see the storm a comin towards rough seas I set my sail
You are not regrettable all I saw was red
I wished that I was dying I wanted to be dead

Piedmont Blues
06:07
|
|||
I watch the clock til its time to stop my dream and make my bed
tuck in my shirt and go to work with the dream still in my head
I pass the smiling business man and the beggars on the street
expansive land of liberty but somehow I dont feel free
See time is life and life is how you choose to spend your time
little hand big hand tick tock round the wheel and then you die
tonight Im gonna own my life under this bright full moon
pick up a brick and let it fly cause I aint got shit to lose but the
Piedmont Blues
I always felt these legs were made to run through greener fields
these lungs to fill with oxygen my heart to love what's real
but Ill be damned I've been convinced to go abroad and kill
God bless you Mr. president and your holy dollar bill
see freedom costs cause it aint free to drive around your car
at least were free enough to drown our feelings at the bar
well stay inside its dark outs what they tell you on the news
Im gonna turn my TV off cause I aint got shit to lose but the Piedmont Blues
Does anybody out there ever feel the way I feel
my calculations state we got the shit end of the deal
cause time is life and life is how you choose to spend your time
I choose to not let anyone decide how I use mine
we were not born to work and live somebody else's dream
but it cant run without the proper parts to the machine
so cast the fear clean out your ears put on your dancin shoes
perform an act of love tonight cause you aint got shit to lose but the
Piedmont Blues

The Island
04:47
|
|||
Was a tale without an ending the memory never left
even what I dont remember I am trying to forget
line em up bartender you know what I want is wet
tilt the bottle toward splendor lets pretend we never left
the full moon above the island the waves wash away regret
the temperature is rising I think about you and I sweat
desperation is a wild friend keeps you out all night
left my troubles on the mainland think that Im insane man cause Im
never going back
Im a man I make mistakes why do the answers always come too late
where I go its all the same learn to carry lies and live with shame
Im not getting any younger today Im half alive but Im okay
where I go its all the same find a bar and numb the pain
Had so many roads to choose from took the one right outta town
if you take a chance to come up you gotta let somebody down
as I stare at peeling paint behind the bottles on the wall
my mind is like this island being punished by a squall
and I remember too like it was just this afternoon
every-time I glanced at the clock waiting for you to knock
the days are warm here on the island but the nights are so hot
and home is an inconvenient song that keeps playing... it wont stop
Im a man I make mistakes why do the answers always come too late
where I go its all the same learn to carry lies and live with shame
Im not getting any younger today Im half alive but Im okay
where I go its all the same find a bar and numb the pain

Im working for the company dear God I love my job

my devotion to my company affords me plenty food to eat
Is it all that you expected is it everything you dreamed
will you forever do exactly what your told to get the green
Is it all that you expected is it everything you dreamed
will you forever do exactly what your told to get the green
It is all that I expected its everything I dreamed
Ive got the life I always asked for I don't want for anything
cause Im working for the company Im towing every line
I get a day on Sunday by Monday I feel fine
Is it all that you expected is it everything you dreamed
will you forever do exactly what your told to get the green
Is it all that you expected is it everything you dreamed
will you forever do exactly what your told to get the green
